My primary teaching is Calculus for the Life and Social Sciences I and II in large lectures. I use active teaching strategies and team based learning tools in my classes to create student centered learning experiences. I also try to use peer to peer discussions and activities as much as possible. I am currently working on ways to help students identify the things they don’t know that they don’t know. Having such a large scale of students makes it difficult to give everyone the feedback they need. My goal is to find a way to give students the opportunity to identify areas where they need help so they know the right questions to ask during class, to their peers, or during office hours in order to begin filling the gaps in their mathematical knowledge.
