Fellowship Project & Instructional Interests

My innovation challenge was to find new ways to engage students in the classroom and help them to connect what they are learning to their lives outside of the classroom. I have been developing a new undergraduate elective (300 level, targeted for 40 students), and will use several new technologies. For example, Instagram assignments will have the students examine their own environment for examples of concepts we are learning about in class. Web-based interactive programs like ThingLink and Tiki-Toki will be used for in-class activities to allow the students to apply concepts in a visual way that will facilitate discussions. I am also thinking about using JMP Pro to help the students learn how to analyze data and build graphs.
