Fellowship Project & Instructional Interests

Erik Cheries is a proud alumnus of UMass Amherst (’98) who returned to the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences as an Assistant Professor in 2009. He completed his Ph.D. at Yale University and a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University. His research team, the Infant Cognition Lab, examines infants’ early conceptual development and their capacity to think about objects, numbers, and the moral behaviors of others.

Instructional Interests:
I am interested in leveraging new technologies and resources on campus to help increase student engagement and learning in large classroom environments. In addition to the large Developmental Psychology course I teach each year, I am currently preparing a new course on Forensic Psychology and my goal is to implement tools (e.g., video conferencing and on-line discussion forums) that will allow me to connect content from class with experts and issues in the community.
