Fellowship Project & Instructional Interests

Geologic time and records of the past 4 million years inform us about climate change into the future. They provide the ground truth for policy now, especially that the sea level rise happening today and into the future is not reversible! Earth History has “natural experiments” we can learn from to see the direction of our future with a high CO2 world, if that is what we choose. I hope to learn new ways to engage my freshman oceanography class and, most importantly an upper level Integrative Experience course in understanding the implications of change for how we manage our future and our coastlines. Moreover I want students to see environmental change mitigation and adaptation as an exciting opportunity for engaging/rewarding careers that will help society and make a difference.
