Fellowship Project & Instructional Interests

I was really interested in becoming an Innovation Fellow so that I would be up to date on the latest technology to use in the classroom. I am a big proponent of using technology in my personal life and with my research lab (Twitter @StrattonLab) and now certainly in the classroom. One of the biggest challenges for me, other than being new to teaching, is how to reach a majority of students in a large classroom setting. I have previously used iClicker and Perusall, which I think are useful tools – and I think I can use them more effectively after attending the Innovation symposium, and potentially switch to using Reef.
By using multiple tools, as provided by the wealth of technology available to us, I think it is more possible to reach more students. Another great idea that I will try to implement is having students create their own timeline of things they have learned throughout the course.
