Fellowship Project & Instructional Interests

I am interested in methods and tools that facilitate engagement and learning in a course I teach on earth’s climate. In this undergraduate course I use a combination of lectures and small-group TBL activities to achieve both breadth and depth of knowledge in the subject. I seek novel approaches for both preparation and class time that will increase variety and enhance understanding, especially for the more complex concepts in atmospheric science. Through the semester students develop a course paper focused on the climate of a given location. Methods which maximize effectiveness of small group work that can be useful for the individual class paper are of particularly interest.
