Fellowship Project & Instructional Interests

Torrey’s Innovate@ Symposia project focuses on preparing students to be mindful and purposeful technology users in the classroom (e.g., how to not get distracted by Facebook during class). Her edtech interests are: digital media production, web 2.0 tools, social media, Universal Design for Learning, and 3D printing. Torrey’s research focuses on how technology can support teachers in designing contexts that enhance student learning.

In Fall 2015, she collaboratively developed an open online course for educators with students in her EDUC 612 (Educational Web Design Course). This project was recognized by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) with the 2016 Online Learning Network Award. Torrey and her research colleagues recently did a podcast to highlight findings from their latest research study. Here’s a link to the study  and their research website.

Torrey Trust holds recent awards.

Most recently, Torrey was awarded the 2017 American Educational Research Association SIG – Instructional Technology Best Paper Award; 2017 International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Emerging Leader Award, and 2017 Journal of Digital Learning in Teacher Education Research Paper Award.
